Enter this lane to a dwelling on the right of the lane and continue on past the house to the woods where a road through the woods can be seen. Follow this road just inside the woods where it forks. Take the left fork of this road just a short distance to to the cemetery. This cemetery, actually, is a three-part burial ground. The front part closest to the nearby dwelling is maintained in excellent condition by the caretaker, Mr. Glenwood C. Berry, who resides nearby. He furnished the compilers with family history data. Part two, contiguous to the front part, is not cared for and is very brushy and overgrown. Part three contiguous, is brushy and wooded. Sloane, on 3 Feb 1951, 85, a resident of the Blainesville community marks the passing of another highly esteemed member of her race. limos . She was well known and had many friends both white and colored in Luray. The had been in failing health for several weeks. Death came at 10 p.m. Tuesday. Last rites are scheduled for Friday afternoon. She was a life long resident of Page Co. and was born in the Mud Pie Section. Her parents were the late John and Ellen Hughes Dougans. For a number of years she worked for Professor Binford of the old Luray Female Institute, and in later years was a familiar figure in town with her canned foods and beautiful flowers which she sold to Luray families. It was not uncommon for her to he seen walking all the way from her home in Blainesville to Luray, even in her late years. On many occasions, the lovely dahlias which she raised in her Blainesville garden were displayed in the office of the Page News and Courier where she freqnently visited. Her homemade pickles, relishes and canned fruits were considered by many Luray homemaker’s the best to be had. Since girlhood she had been a member of the Free Baptist Church at Blainesville. Surviving are her aged husband, Thomas L. Sloane, of Blainesville, a brother-in-law George Bradford, anl a number of nieces and nephews. She was the last member of her family, her five brothers and sisters having preceded her in death. She had one child who died in infancy. Rev. Bert Madison, of Luray, will conduct the funeral at 2:00 p.m. Friday, from the Blainesville Church. Burial will be in the Redmond Cemetery)John N.
