The cemetery receives regular and excellent maintenance. At the entrance to the cemetery on Road 611, there is a double wide opening with columns on either side. A bronze plaque on the right column reads: “Dedicated 26 May 1963, and erected in 1972 by Harmony Community Improvement Club. The south part of the cemetery is for expansion. The part of the cemetery being used begins in the fork of Roads 611 & 680 and continues south into the expansion area.Page News and Courier, dated 19 May 1988 –Founded in 1897, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church at Blainesville will mark its 66th anniversary this weekend. Principal speakers will be Rev. J. Dallas Jenkins of Columbus, Ohio, and a grandson and son of three former pastors of Mt. Carmel. Jenkins served as pastor for a brief time in 1942. The present pastor is Rev. W. Wayne Berry. The forerunner of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, built in 1877, and located on the west side of Road 611, approximately 175 yards north of the junction of 611 and 680. The 1885 Lake atlas the church was “The Free Will Baptist Church” , and was used until Mt. Carmel was erected. Mt. Carmel lies on the east side of Road 611, approximately 100 yards South of the junction of Road 611 & 650. Mr. Glenwood C. redeem rewards . Berry, aka Charles Ashby Glenwocd Berry, takes care of the maintenance of the cemetery. His wife, Pauline Elizabeth Berry, nee Redman, 12 Jun 1912- 5 Dec 1977 is buried in this cemetery. This cemetery was located by Mr. Eldon Yates, Road 611, Luray, Virginia. Mr. Glenwood C. Berry accompanied the compilers to this cemetery and furnished a lot of data pertaining to burials. Obituary—-George Berrey, age 89, of the oldest and most respected colored people in this county, passed away at his home at Blainesville at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, 30 Apr 1952. He had been in declining health for several years.. An accident with a gun in early life had necessitated the amputation of one of his arms, but this never dulled his eagerness to work or his happy approach to life. Born at Blainesville on 17 Aug 1862, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Berrey and had spent his entire life in that cormnunity. His wife who was before marriage, Vicky Spencer, died sixty one years ago. He leaves one son, Texas Berrey, at home, and was the last member of his fantily. His three brothers and three sisters having all preceded him in death. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Bert Madison from the Free Will Baptist Church at Blainsvjlle at 2:30 p.m. Friday and burial will be in the family cemetery near his home.
