P.)-Three colored citizens, one a woman, avenged the word, “nigger” used by three trolley conductors here recently by soundly thrashing each of them. In one case the conductor had been warned by the motorman for using such a word. No arrests were made.On his way to work on a south bound 11th street car, a colored man whose name could not be learned, boarded the car and gave the conductor his transfer. It seemed that the conductor was angry about something and sought to take it out on this man. pest control . He called the man a “nigger”. The colored man returned to where the conductor was sitting and asked him to take back the word. This the conductor refused to do, and added, “Where I come from a white dont have to take back the word “Nigger.” The Negro man knocked the conductor down with a right-hand blow.The motorman hearing the argument, looked back as the conductor was struck. autotrader . He stopped the car. “I told you,” the motorman shouted, “to stop calling colored people “niggers.” You are not in the South now and all people wont stand for it.” The affair ended until the colored man reached his destination.On a south-bound 5th Street car, a colored man and the conductor got in an argument. The conductor reached in his coat pocket and pulled out a ticket-puncher, pointed it at the race man, who, like many others on the car, thought it was a gun. The Negro struck the conductor and knockcd him down.The conductor retaliated by shouting he was being robbed. The colored man became frightened, opened the door and escaped. Other passengers, both white and and colored, laughed at the conductor’s fake cry of being robbed.On a north-bound 10th street car a colored woman was paying her fare when a white man was in a hurry to get by. An argument followed. The conductor took sides with the man of his race. The word “nigger” was passed. The race woman immediately slapped the conductor nearly out of his box. The slap ended the argument.
