CHILDHOOD MEMORIES

This post is an my attempt to write about some of the things that I remember about my childhood. Unfortunately I cannot tie dates to these events nor can I remember how old I was when they occurred.I can characterize my childhood as a very good one. There were more good memories than bad. In fact, I do not have too many bad memories. If I were able to go through my life again there are two things that I would not want to go through again, ever. There were times when my mother and father had their loud arguments. These arguments would sometimes end with my father hitting my mother. I remember many times laying in my bed with my brothers, listening to the sounds of violence coming from the next room. I remember the accompanying fear, the quiet crying and the anger I developed toward my father, because he was hitting my mother. The feeling of helplessness overcomes you , for there is nothing a child can do to stop it and protect his mother. No child should be exposed to or have to experience those kinds of situations. The other is the events surrounding my brother Kenneth’s death, which speaks for itself. My childhood was a good one due in a large part to some of the people who were important to me as I was growing up:Aunt Mag and Uncle Roy – They were like a mother and father to me. Fortunately for me they lived above us and were always available to talk to, confide in and to help me through the rough spots. They were very instrumental in saving me from many a whipping. No one could have asked for a better Aunt and Uncle. (In fact, I loved Aunt Mag so much that I took her on a date).Aunt Ruth – She was the cover-up artist of all time. No matter how bad we were or what we did, Aunt Ruth would do her best keep us from getting caught. I am also a better person for having her as part of my life.Yvette, Roy, Dave and Lois – They are the greatest cousins in the world. Volumes can be written on the things that we did together. They are the reason that I had a great childhood. If you think that the Mike Tyson fights are great, you ain’t seen nothing. If I were a boxing promoter, my match-ups would be:Yvette vs Roy , Roy versus Dave and finally Yvette vs anybody . I remember the day when Aunt Mag was the only adult around when Yvette and Roy got into it and started fighting. Aunt Mag tried to stop them and all she got for her efforts was to be locked in a closet so those two could continue their match. American Eagle Coupons . They made my childhood fun, interesting and enjoyable. I thank and love them for that.Shirley, Deedee and Norma – Also cousins that I love and am thankful for. I always looked forward to them “babysitting” us. They were always very tolerant of our behavior and we as kids had a lot of fun when they were with us.My grandmother, Eleanor (Nonie) Staley and Grandpap (Charles D. public storage locations . Law Sr. – Every memory that I have of Nonie and Grandpap is a good one. phoenix roofers . They were always very loving, kind and gentle to me. I still miss them a lot.As you can tell, I think very highly of my aunts and uncles, my cousins, my brothers and sisters, and my grandparents. I was fortunate to be born into a good family and would not want it any other way. I, for one, am proud to be a Jenkins.
